Harvest Moon Electronics Special: See and Be Seen!

Safety Offshore and in High Traffic Areas (such as the Houston Ship Channel) Should be Your Priority! Offer good through the end of October 2017 $80/hr AIS Installation Labor Rate (discounted from $95/hr).

An Automatic Identification System (AIS) is an important piece of safety equipment that transmits your position and vessel specifics to other boats in the area over VHF radio frequencies. Likewise, it receives the same information about other boats and ships in your vicinity and plots their location on your chart plotter. This allows you and your crew to safely see and be seen by all traffic around you. Don’t depend on radar alone for commercial traffic to know you’re there! If you would like pricing on a turn-key installation, contact our office today! We can also confirm your existing AIS system is properly programmed and is operating as intended.

Bettering Your Boat Owning Experience

What does your boat maintenance routine look like?

How often do you exercise your engines, or run your generator under load?

When was the last time you inspected your shore power cables and connections?

Do you regularly check the operation of your bilge pumps and float switches?

What about the condition of your zinc or aluminum anodes?  Galvanic voltage readings taken during these visits let you know exactly if your expensive underwater hardware is properly protected.

Even if you are regularly aboard or use your boat, the value of regular visual inspections, fluid levels checks, operational exercises, etc. can provide a new level of comfort and confidence in your vessel.

30th Anniversary, Race the Moon

The Harvest Moon Regatta® is an annual sailboat race offshore from
Galveston, Texas to Port Aransas, Texas.
2016 marks the regatta’s 30th Anniversary!
As a proud sponsor of Harvest Moon,

To aid in accomplishing this goal, True North Marine staff presented an
Offshore Engine Preparation Seminar

Copies of this presentation are available by email by request.

At its conclusion, we are offered a
Complimentary Engine Inspection and Consultation to all Race Participants!
This includes up to 45 minutes of inspection, consultation, and general Q&A time
with you aboard your vessel.
We are extending this offer to all other Race Participants who may not have been able to attend, or did not have the opportunity to sign up.

Raritan “Fresh” Manual Head

oct15-10If you have ever had a boat with heads that use sea water for flushing purposes, then no doubt you’re also familiar with the “rotten egg” smell they can produce. This comes from the decomposing marine organisms in the sea water as it stagnates in your plumbing hoses and head. This can eventually lead to permeated hoses and an unpleasant smell that creeps into every corner of the boat.

Many people deal with this inconvenience by using fresh water from an adjacent shower or sink to flush the head. If you are interested in an affordable fix to this problem, the Raritan Fresh Head is worth a serious look. It is a manually operated head (does not use complicated electronic components or macerating pumps) that is designed to work with pressurized fresh water. Water flow to the head can be easily controlled, and it’s mounting footprint matches most competitor’s patterns. Continue reading
