The Past, the Present, and the Future…

True North Marine was formed in 2003, and was the brainchild of two brothers with a passion for boating.  One had a new boat and was experiencing major problems addressing warranty issues, finding contractors to do desired additions and upgrades, and generally getting the details handled to get the boat out on the water.  The other had the skills and background to handle most of the work, and was able to work with local contractors to handle the rest.  Throughout the process, it became apparent that there was a strong need for a reputable company to provide reliable preventive maintenance, repair, and installation services.   True North Marine was born to fulfill that need.

By drawing on a strong mechanical background and immediately seeking out the best industry training and certifications through the American Boat and Yacht Council, work began with the highest quality and workmanship standards.  As the company and its reputation grew, and employees were brought on, types of services offered were steadily expanded.  Work began heavily centered on gas and diesel engines, then moved into electrical work and electronics, eventually adding air conditioning and refrigeration services as well.  Today, with technicians certified in different areas of specialization, we offer design, installation, preventive maintenance, and repair services for just about any on-board system or piece of equipment.

From the start, our highest priority has been to do the job right the first time, in a way that will stand up to all the rigors of offshore service, even if the vessel never makes it past the Galveston jetties.  This has enabled our work to speak for itself, and our reputation and satisfied customer base has steadily grown over the years.  Starting a new business can be tough.  Growing it past a one-man shop can be a huge hurdle to clear.  While the quality of our work has never wavered, we have invested heavily in recent years in policies, procedures, software, and technology to improve and insure our customers consistently have a positive experience not only with the quality of the work, but all the other details like call backs, communication, and invoicing.

During the past four years, True North Marine has undergone tremendous growth, even during a struggling economy.  We expect the coming years to be no different and look forward to the challenges that will bring.  We are always investigating ways to improve existing services, and are constantly on the lookout for new business opportunities.  We are excited to see what the future holds, and how we can expand our services to continually improve our customer’s boat-owning experience!
